Quality Starts From The Ground Up



While working with a client to formulate a design, these points will be addressed: site location, elevation, drainage, length/width of putting green, total square footage, putting contours, cup locations, sand-traps, collar mounding, perimeter restoration, collar irrigation, site accessibility and budget.
  

Construction begins with the removal of all unsuitable organic material from the putting green site. The sub-base is then shaped utilizing a sandy-loam fill material to create elevations and contours. Then, the layered aggregate base is formed to the horizontal and vertical design of the putting green. The base consists of different gradations of aggregate, averaging 6" thick when compacted. Cups are then set into the base with a drainage column beneath each one. PGI Putting Turf is then installed over the prepared base, with the edges secured below grade.
  
 


If sand-traps are incorporated in the putting green design, they are then excavated and shaped by hand. A gravel drain or drainage relief pipe is then installed in the base of the sand-trap. Next, a white geo-textile fabric is installed over the gravel, lining the base of the trap. Finally, white washed trap-sand is added.

Restoring the perimeter collar areas requires adding topsoil to match the existing grades and honing the "green side" contours. The installation of sod is preferred around the putting green and sand-traps to transition into the existing landscape.
  
 

The cost of a putting green will depend on size and site conditions, but will usually average $20 to $24 per sq'. All other design features are priced according to the time and materials required to create them.

  • Your Five-Year Guarantee. Because we utilize the best synthetic bent-grass putting turf available and build a stable engineered base, we confidently guarantee our workmanship and all materials used for five years. In fact, putting greens that we constructed over 10 years ago still look and play great today.
  • As assurance of our ongoing commitment to you, we offer an annual “Greenskeeper” service. Each spring our Service Crew will visit your putting green to: clean off the putting surface, reset cups, replace the flagstick, edge and groom the sand-traps, replace the trap rake or what ever it is you may desire. With your authorization we perform these “Greenskeeper” services as needed for a reasonable fee.
